I was just on Youtube and looking up all kinds of stuff including the words "kolo", "bregovic" etc. There went my entire evening!

Re: The Balkans on Youtube
Fri, May 4, 2007 - 11:41 PMI have spent an evening or two searching on youtube for balkan folk music, I have found a lot. There are lots of Lepa Brena videos. I found a two hour radio show archived that plays about every version of misirlu which I accessed through wikipedia, pretty crazy.

Re: The Balkans on Youtube
Sun, May 13, 2007 - 6:45 AMAnd congratulations for Serbia, who's entry for the Eurovision Song Contest brought the country it's first win with Marija Serifovic singing "Molitva" youtube.com/watch . Thank goodness she beat the #2 contestant, the quirky yet crappy Ukranian entry youtube.com/watch Both are onYouTube. If you go there, check out Bulgaria's entry, "Voda", which is a combo of Bulgarian ethno music, percussion and techno youtube.com/watch . Bosnia's song, "Rijeka bez imena" was also very good youtube.com/watch . Keep in mind that EuroVision is mostly cheese, so my standards are very different for it than what I usually listen to. -

Sun, May 13, 2007 - 6:47 AMOops, I forgot to mention that what makes these songs outstanding is that they are in LOCAL LANGUAGE, which is rather rare with EuroVision.
